Hi all,

I recently got a new D-Link DSl 2750U and I am struggling to find out where to put it in half bridge mode?

Any help would be greatly appreciated :)

Look for the "Bridge PPPoE Frames Between WAN and Local Ports" option on the PPPoE WAN interface, and enable that :)

Btw, please let me know on how the ADSL modem works, because a colleague of mine seems very interested in this exact ADSL modem, since it has a USB port (for portable HDD/printer) + Wireless N.

Hey Pada, been using it for a few days now and seems quite nice...overall I would recommend it :) Thanks for you help BTW

I'm glad to hear that.

My colleague's DSL-2750U arrived this morning, and I'm very impressed with the bundle!

1x ADSL2+ port, 4x 100Mbps LAN, 1x USB 2.0 for 3G/HDD/Printer, 2x detachable antennas with 300Mbps 802.11n with MIMO support.
What also impressed me was that its transformer came with a 3 point plug, and it includes surge protection. They've also included a splitter filter.

All this for R609 at iKonicIT is a real bargain!

I would recommend this unit above the TP-Link W8960N now.

How is the WiFi range of the modem ?
Is the bridge mode working properly ?

mm001: I don't think my colleague installed the ADSL modem yet. All D-Link modem's support bridge & half-bridge modes, but you'll have to enable the half-bridge mode option though.

@Pada: Same DSL chipset as the 2500u? How does it compare to that? & how does the W8960N compare to the 2500u in that respect?

Fragtion:
I'm really not sure.

I also think that the newer D-Link DSL-2500U modems might have poorer ADSL chipsets, because my SNR margins (with my new 2500U) wasn't really higher than that of the Netgear DG834GUv5 :(

The new software is quite complex. Do you have an electronic manual so I can configure.

Thank god I found someone else who bought this. I'm having major major issues. Firstly, when I'm trying the normal install it says the ethernet cable is not connected. When I try to log on through the net it says the server is taking too long to respond. I currently have an 8ta dongle plugged into the backside USB port and the Ethernet cable next to it. I want to bridge the two to make a wi-fi connection, but windows can't see my router in devices. Is it possible to plug the 3g dongle directly into the router?

Any help will be appreciated! Thanks.

Don't use the CD software. Log in on the webpage of the router and then configure it.

Here's the user manual: http://bit.ly/w4ZNim

rajiv:
if it says that the cable is not connected, then your cable is broken or the device is broken. Please ensure that you're using a 100Mbps CAT5 cable, and not a telephone cable.

If you get the "Limited or no connectivity" error, then it is a setting/software issue that you can fix yourself.

As far as I know you should be able to plug in your 3G dongle directly in the router's USB port.

Thanks for your help bud. It's probably the device. I tried another cable because I initially thought that might be the problem with it and no luck. Strange thing is, it worked the first time I logged on to configure the router. I've heard this particular model can be problematic though, so I think I'll send it back to whereve I bought it from.

Apologies for the necromancy but I cannot for the life of me find this option on the DSL-2750U.

bwana:
You'll find that option when you configure the PPPoE WAN connection.

On my DSL-2500U it is to found under:
Advanced Setup -> WAN
Click Edit on the PPPoE connection
Click Next, Next
Now that option should be shown. See a screenshot of how my page looks: http://www.imagehost.co.za/image-FEED_501F9F23.jpg

Do you perhaps have a Telkom branded DSL-2750U?

Possibly this?

Do you have any other routers inbetween the PC that you want to dail a PPPoE connection from and your DSL-2750U?

If not, then I would suggest that you try changing those -1 values in the Connection Type group to 0.
Also make sure that you press Next, Next and end up by pressing the Save button and that you reboot the device.

I can't see anything wrong besides the few things that I mentioned above.

Try this,

Go to Setup > Internet Connection > Add

ATM PVC Configuration:
The VPI will have to be something other than 8 otherwise it complains, so I just picked 0 (the default)
The VCI remains at 35
Service Cat. : UBR without PCR

Leave the IP qos scheduler

Connection Type:
Protocol: Bridging
Encap. Mode: LLC/SNAP-BRIDGING
Enable Multiple Vlan Over One Connection: DISABLED

Then go Next > Apply

I've got pppoe passthrough ticked but it doesnt want to make a bridged connection.
Keep this on!
