D-Link DSL-G225 settings for Vumatel?

Hi Everyone,

My Vumatel Fibre will be ready soon, and I'm trying to figure out whether or not, my existing router is suitable.

Theoretically it should work, it definitely works on Openserve Fibre, but not sure whether or not I can use it on Vuma.

The problem is, there are only 3 options for internet over the WAN port, and none of them are DHCP.

1. PPPoE
2. Bridge mode
3. IP over Ethernet

My best guess is that IP over Ethernet could work, if I set it to "Obtain an IP Adress Automatically". Or am I missing something?

Any advice in this regard would be greatly appreciated.

According to that you can setup Dynamic IP on the Wan port through some sort of wizard as detailed on page 17 should verify it yourself would be surprised if it cannot be done

That's the confusing thing. My router is a different shape to that one also. Where that router has Dynamic IP, Static IP, PPPoE, and Bridged Mode, Mine only has PPPoE, Bridged Mode and IP over Ethernet.

I'm thinking the IP over Ethernet option is in the place of both the Dynamic and Static IP options on the other models. It allows you to either set "Obtain an IP Adress Automatically", or optionally add static IP info.

That should work then as Obtain Auto is DHCP client best would be to give it a shot and if it does not work as Vuma to reset your mac for a new router

Cool, thanks. I'll give it a go when they've finally patched me in and post back. They've done the installation to my home so far, but the CPE isn't connecting yet.

Just an update for anyone who wants to use the same router for Vumatel Fibre. The Equivalent of DHCP on this router is indeed "IP over Ethernet", and "Obtain an IP Address Automatically". If you apply those settings for the WAN port, it becomes IP over WAN, or IPoW automatically.

Set it up yesterday and it works without a hitch.

You did not mention if you changed or deleted the existing DSL layer2 and Wan Internet info ?
this is my current settings on DSL - can you compare and tell me what you changed/deleted, if any?
