Hi all,

I got a D-Link DSL-2540U. And when I try to connect it it fails!
I do have a dial tone.
I do have Synchronization.
The error I get is: "the DSL modem cannot see the PPP server (the DSL modem did not receive a PADO packet from the PPP server)."
I have tried with both my normal ISP account and with a Guest Telkom account.

Most importantly, it has never worked! Telkom fails to resolve it. They insist that things work from their side. I have tried the modem with same configuration on another ADSL line, and it works fine.

Any input will be apprciated.

I tried

I tried with an Intellinet ADSL 2+ Router also, and also tried that on both my ADSL lines. That too works on the 384kbps line, but not on the 4mbps line.

My faulty ADSL line do synchronize, which means I have partly ADSL functionality.

Ring 0800 375375 and ask them to recreate the circuit as you are not receiving an IP adresss from the exchange - that normally does the trick and fixes the problem

Thank You

Now it suddenly works!
I guess Telkom are not going to admit to their changes, but I forced them to prove they could browse telkom.co.za from my ADSL line and they got it working.

I ran a diagnostic from my router without changing anything and it passed a couple of more steps than earlier today. I changed login to my provider and it worked.

I don't know what made it worked, but at that point I haved already spoken to 3 people at Telkom's CEO office and email corresponded to 20 at ICASA.

Never give up!
Thanks again
