D-Link or ZyXel router?

Nope, haha still not working. Will leave it for the time being. I'll just bug PBCool to come set it up for me :P

Good idea, but I think you might struggle to convince him. In the meantime, connect your PC to the ADSL router directly then follow this http://www.digitalcitizen.life/how-setup-and-use-pppoe-internet-connections-windows-10 (assuming your on windows 10) to make a PPPoE connection without the Mikrotik. This will just confirm that you have the ADSL router working properly in bridge mode.

I'm too tired tonight lol. It can wait for another day. Oh and I'm on MacBook Air.

Hey, I know you not a fan of these Mikrotik routers, but some of us do want to learn :)
I am a fan, am an MTCINE myself. Just saying they cause more headaches for networks when folks experiment. Get one for something to mess around with behind your regular router to start with then take it from there once you are happy with your skill level around ROS. :)

Well that's why I got my hands on the 2nd hand mikrotik, just to see what it's all about and try learn how to use it, but I can't even get it to connect to the internet lol

I actually wanted to get the Asus RT-87u router, but that's like 4K wtf! Mikrotik is half the price lol

The R2100 Zyxel on Axxess site can be gotten for R1600 from takealot.

Double posting to bump

My Zyxel arrived yesterday and I'm very happy with it, the device itself is neat, the voip works well and is crystal clear, natting rules are good, wifi coverage is good. Interface takes a little getting used to but no regrets at all about getting the device.

Edit: Currently using it for VDSL while I wait for OpenServe to put me on their map, VDSL modem works well too.

You ask
"I have 2 options on the Axxess website. ZyXEL VMG8924-B10A or D-Link DSL-224. Would the more expensive one be better?"
Had a Telkom D-Link DSL-224 router - Only a small limited selection of Dongles that are compatible if you need to use the 3G failover - a problem.
Now got a Telkom ZyXEL SBG3300 router. Huge list of compatible dongles and my Voda K5150 Dongle gives me >26Mbps 4G speeds if I need the speed, without high data volume, which happens some times.. Sorry don't know the VMG8924-B10A - look up the compatablity list.
