DA’s Mbali Ntuli resigns

Ntuli’s resignation marks the party’s third high profile resignation this year, following the departure of the party’s former parliamentary leader Lindiwe Mazibuko in May and CEO Jonathan Moakes resignation earlier this month.

The report attributes Ntuli’s resignation to having a strained relationship with party leader Helen Zille.

According to the report Ntuli has been sidelined in the party following her fall-out with Zille earlier this year.

Zille launched a verbal attack on Ntuli in February, when the youth leader expressed her reservations about the DA’s planned march to Luthuli House.

Now she has, apparently, been tasked with building a DA constituency in a remote area with no DA presence: a situation her supporters believe she was set up to fail.

Ntuli remains a DA member and a member of the KwaZulu-Natal provincial legislature.

Sometimes I wonder if the DA leadership is too "disciplined" for a generation that is far too wet.

That M & G article is very obviously trying to create controversy with baseless speculation and nameless sources. "The Mail and Guardian Understands". What does this mean?

The simple facts are these: in line with being elected as a DA MPL in KZN, Ntuli has been asigned a constituency as all MPs and MPL:s are. Her area happens to be a difficult one, so she resigns as youth leader to focus full attention on building the DA in that area. That's it.
