The Democratic Alliance has requested the public protector to investigate the African National Congress's alleged use of public funds for election purposes.

DA MP Patricia Kopane sent a letter to advocate Mabedle Lawrence Mushwana on Monday, asking for an urgent investigation into the release of R4,3-million allocated for poverty alleviation by the head of the Social Security Agency.

The money was allegedly used for election-related purposes for the ANC.

"If this money was designated, as reported, to be spent on social development projects, such as paying for chairs, buildings, toilets, generators and wheelchairs required at social grant pay points, then clearly some of South Africa's poorest citizens have been severely prejudiced by this decision."

New President, same old s**t. Wake up people, the ANC is only in it for the money and power. To hell with the poor and disabled.

The rot has already set in before the elections. Using state funds for electioneering is illegal, as is the food for votes tactic used in Zuma's hometown.

We are awake but the only thing we can do is hold a coo to overthrow them and I don't think any here has that balls to take on 30mil idiots :O

Why would you want to overthrow them?, where else in the world can you make R400 000 000.00 by giving an official a car worth R1 100 000.00??:D

Because it is R400 000 000.00 that comes from my/our money :O so you bribe them and little do you realize the money you make is gonna bite you in your own pocket, economic crises much?

Time and performance is the biggest enemy of the ANC. They are running out of time and their performance is growing weaker. But that is just my personal humble opinion of which many would differ from

I assume you're referring to the Sbu Ndebele issue. On the face of it, it sounds completely wrong, however when you drill down into it, it's pretty harmless. While I think there is now a conflict of interest to a very small degree, the motives seemed innocent enough.

Firstly the merc was given to him by a body who represent 29000 companies. It was not from one specific company, so who is Sbu likely to favour when it comes to awarding contracts? All 29000? And it was also agreed long before he was placed in his new position, which not even he was aware he would take over back then.

It's easy to make a snap judgement on this, but I don't think he was being corrupt in any way. However it is poor judgement on his part to accept gifts in business, regardless of their innocent nature or not...
