Looks like they're taking tips from the people using reddit to canvass for voters in the US primaries. It might work well, but the lack of compensation might make people feel like it's a pointless exercise.

It's going to get even worse now. The whole point of this is to make every supporter an activist who can do canvassing for the DA. As they themselves say, even canvassing one person is one more person than we had canvassed before, or soliciting one donation.
