DAB Esybox pump is tripping my power

Good people…some guidance, please?

I had a water pump replaced yesterday with the DAB Esybox 1.1kw. The replaced pump was a Saflo 0.75kw booster pump.

Problem is that when it is on, everything’s fine…but the moment a tap is opened, my earth leakage trips instantly. I had none of these issues with the replaced pump.

What could be causing this? Faulty pump? Your insights would be greatly appreciated.

Call the people who did the work and tell them to fix it.

An overdue update: Turnout that my plumber had messed things up during the installation of the pump. It took about a month to get it messed up. Fortunately the plumber was willing and able to pay for the repairs. I have had the pump back since and it is working as it should. I can, based on the short time I have it working, conform that the reputation of this pump is well-deserved!
Lesson: If possible, and you are not capable, get the seller to install your pump for you. Plumbers are not necessarily the best people to do this!

To the uninitiated (i.e. me), everything seemed complex. In hindsight, nothing about it was.

On commissioning the pump, the plumber opened and poured water into the motor 'port' instead of the priming 'port'. I know, I know ...turns out that this was his first time to install this particular pump.

So he primed the motor by pouring water into the outlet port? From my limited experience, that really makes no difference.

But I'm only referring to a standard jet pump, not sure how much different the EasyBox work and I don't understand how that could have screwed up anything but I am not arguing. Just curious.

I have a metabo and and a switch, no issues since I self installed.

Sounds like he poured it into the motor itself.

Oh the e.sybox is fantastic.

Soft start, near silent, and it's inverter driven so it only runs exactly as hard as your demand. So just a trickle on the tap means it runs at say 50 watts, rather than your simpler pumps which will cycle off and on constantly.

Well the power saving is a nice feature, I have solar, so not a train smash. My pump only switch on when I open a tap thanks to pressure switch.

Though the quiet feature is a nice one, luckily my pump/s are in a place far from the house.

So, the E.sybox has two 'ports' on the top. One to the motor, and the other for priming (the inlet and outlet ports are in the bottom section of the pump). He opened the wrong one and poured water in there.

I am drawing from a borehole into a tank...and the E.sybox is what I am using to supply water from the tank to everywhere.

For me, the main one has been the significant energy/electricity saving, given that I am off municipal water and all the water we use requires the pump to run. The other is that the pump is quiet! I really like that. I had a Salflo pump set up similar to what you have. As soon as I could, I changed to this. No regrets yet.

Yeah, I had DAB wellpoint pumps, all 3 packed up and I replaced with Metabos, all 3 metabos are going strong, lasted longer than my DAB, and was much cheaper.

Metabos are relatively quiet, though not as quiet as the easybox. The DAB easy box is very expensive, and whilst it is a nice bit of kit, I cannot justify it to myself, the cost versus benefit over a similar size pump and automatic switch combo. But if money was no object, I would buy the easybox.

True, those are excellent but just too pricey for what I'll use it for
