Dagga users 5 times more likely to develop schizophrenia

I think only the user themself can decide/know whether their partaking of a substance (weed or otherwise) is use or abuse, because it is subjective. One joint per day may have a serious effect on some people,
I reckon that's mostly achieved in retrospect. Someone can easily start smoking two joints a day daily for 2 years and only then realize it was a bad idea.

Who cares. Alcohol use drastically increases your chances of developing liver disease. Smoking increases your risk of respiratory system cancers. Clearly whether or not something is bad for you is irrelevant to its legality.

Legalise the stuff already.

Being alive drastically increases your chance of dying

I've nothing much to say about this in particular, aside from the fact that it's obvious that people susceptible to mental health problems are going to need to exercise extreme caution around any psychoactive substances. I am vaguely curious how they reached the figure they did though...

Unfortunately diagnosis is often too late or denial is the order of the day. So far no proof of cause or effect?

None of this matters, because cannabis can cure anything.

Are there really people who believe that to be the case? There is no doubt that the cannabis plant has some rather amazing therapeutic potential, but to claim it is a cure-all is somewhat naive and dishonest.

Precisely. What is clear and indisputable is that our current laws concerning drugs were not devised based on how addictive or harmful a substance is to our health. Drugs policy in South Africa is not based on science or evidence and is chock-a-block full of hypocrisy.

I suspect a hint of sarcasm in the quoted post ;)

There's a dude on this forum that believes that. Can't remember his name but he is a whackjob.

He had some sort of dagga support group or party he was affiliated with.

Daggamovement?

He was probably the worst marijuana activist i have ever come across, im a firm believer in legalised marijuana but he nearly convinced me otherwise.

Certainly not a cure all.

But definitely benenficial in many studied cases and there would be so many more of those studies if it was legal.

Take my Crohn's Disease there is some evidence based on a small study that suggest remission can occur on the majority of patients. But a much larger more credible study is really required to be of any worth.

It has always helped IBS through my you so I can easily believe that it would work.

I think he had "stoned" in his username!

Yoh people are literally reaching now to try and stop the decriminalization of dagga...

True. That's the beauty of hindsight.
Which makes it tricky to define use & abuse. It's extremely easy to start smoking and thinking it's ok to do every day because it feels pretty good, you enjoy it with some friends and there's no immediate negative feedback from it. Only years later it catches up to you that maybe it wasn't such a good idea to be altering your consciousness with such regularity.

And that's part of why this "hey weed is totally cool no matter how much you use bro" attitude pisses me off: It encourages people to regard weed as this thing that's as natural as eating apples, and it's also being deliberately blind to the consequence of subjecting our most precious possession - mind - to daily psychological alteration.

I have no issue with weed.
I have an issue with this stupid carefree attitude toward it.

AFAIK schizo is genetic. While you might think you're okay and healthy and fine, it can hit you like a ton of bricks, with or without weed
