first post so hey to everyone, great site, fsck telkom and all that.. :D
i've had ADSL (192kbs running off a cybersmart 3gig account) for 2 months now, still haven't been charged a cent by telkom so i'm not complaining to much!!

anyway my question is this:
i used to dial up to work to access my office pc from home, now i have adsl i don't want to use dialup at all anymore (especially since i'm using VOIPBuster's 8c a minute local calls..) so i'm wondering if its possible to dialup somewhere using VOIP? What software is required, a virtual modem perhaps? Has anyone done this succesfully?
thanks in advance for any info :D

Vnc/vpn

If your workplace has ADSL/ any form of permanent connection it might be worth using a VNC/VPN solution like winVNC or UltraVNC? or possibly even the software that you have already? :D

Dialup via VoIP makes no sence whatsoever !!!

as BradDC said, you can use some of those (VNC/VPN)

usually this software works independend from the type of the connection, so as long as your company PC is connected 24x7 to internet, there should be a no problem

the corporate firewall was blocking almost everything :(
ok just figured it out..
using putty to tunnel the port used by vnc through the mail server!
tried this for hours before, but I was forgetting to forward the port on my router back to my pc /duh :P

w00t! rapidshare premium account and 500kb/s uncapped await!

lol an academic institution with an 11mb pipe.. looking at overnight traffic graphs i hardly make a dent into the usage :p
