Good day,

I am currently on a 'trial' period of dairy alternatives. So far I have tried almond milk in my coffee (ground filter coffee not instant) and it made my coffee a bit watery and didn't like it.

What milk alternatives are you putting in coffee and cereals. I have been doing some research on possible links of dairy to prostate and breast cancer, although some research is conflicting. However most agree on one thing : grass fed , organic is better.

Another study mentioned that the hormones present in milk might have damaging effects, that being said , I have seen stores like Woolworths sell milk with the 'RTBS' hormone free labelled milk, which I have been consuming.

What are your thoughts, especially on these dairy milk alternatives?

This is a nice oat milk. Tho if you eating cocoa pops & sugary cereals and worrying about dairy it's a bit silly.

The only cereals I eat are strictly whole grains. Not sugary ones. I love my oatmeal in the morning and occasionally wit beex. I add a bit of milk in these.I do agree its a bit silly as sugar is dangerous.Where is this sold ?

Back in college, 38 years ago, my fellow hostel students kept nicking my milk from the communal fridge.
I started drinking my coffee black.
Haven't touched anything from a cow's udder since, apart from cheese.

Will have a look. I am based in Cape Town
Organic Zone in Rondebosch or Tokai stock it. There's other oat milks around so not tricky to find. Have tried making it at home but never get it as creamy as the bought version. Have tried all the tricks like chilling the oats and water first.

Same. Haven't needed milk for anything. The oat milk (+frozen bananas) hits the spot if I'm craving a creamy smoothie thing. If I eat cheese two days in a row I'm guaranteed a pimple on my face. Happens almost every time without fail, tho hard cheeses not so much.

The best alternative is no alternative.

Just don’t use it when you don’t need it and limit your intake otherwise.

Like have one cappuccino a day for breakfast and have it black after that for the rest of the day.

In coffee, I went black to avoid anything dairy. Alternatives to dairy made no sense. Today I love the taste of black coffee and could never go back.

I don't do cereal. If I do, it is a dash of milk at most. However, a good friend of mine will use orange juice instead of milk. He swears by it, as it is a healthier option.

@ashdgee Maybe try making overnight oats? Even with water it gets quite creamy the next day. Could even blend a bit of it and add back in.

Orange juice in coffee ?

Some people become allergic to dairy after they remove it from their diets. Unless you are lactose intolerant keep dairy in your diet.

I trust that is not instant coffee? That **** needs milk to camouflage the crapness.

Depending on the motivation for needing dairy alternatives also much easier to switch to things like yoghurt and muesli for breakfast.

Only “cereal” I still have as a lactose intolerant/sensitive person is Futurelife which just needs water.
