AI-generated Batman comic gets slammed by artists

A social media post boasting about the ability of the latest version of text-to-image artificial intelligence (AI) tool Dall-E to create comics was widely mocked by artists over the weekend.

On Saturday, Twitter (now X) user and AI enthusiast Ammar Reshi posted a 4-panel fan-made comic of Batman, which he said was generated in OpenAI's recently-released Dall-E 3.

I'd be careful calling people dummies as those same people might just be some of the authors biggest fans/avid customers and were experimenting with creating their own versions of their favourite characters/stories.
This isn't any different to a fan creating their own spin-off. It would be an issue if they profited off of it without the original creators seeing any compensation.

I think the smart thing to do for the authors is allow the public to create content using the likeness or even directly base their own content on the original, but compensate the original creators accordingly (and clearly indicate
that it's not original and/or AI generated). There's no use fighting this..

Win/win.

People/Companies that use AI to generate content are idiots.

until it will be the accepted way, and everybody will do this.
I'm not convinced it will be so easy. AI sucks at generating content. And it always finds a way to show it.
I think laws will change and people are going to get burned. I dont think society is game for AI generated content.
Get ready for 'ai free' zones.

yes agreed, right now, but the growth is exponential,
at some point it will surpass real life artists, and it will be difficult to tell them apart.
I say give it 5 years, things will improve a lot.
