I got home yestrerday and water was gushing from my residential water meter. I have one of those big upright standing plastic meters. It seems like someone must have vandalised it. I logged a call with JHB water at around16:15 yesterday, and I was usures someone would come out to fix it.

No one did despite making several follow up calls yestreday and today. I kept on being told that someone has been assigned and they will come out.

My front lawn is now a swamp, I'm not getting anywhere with JHB water.
What else can I do? Is there any other way of escalating this besided the useless call centre?

Saw something similar on the Edenvale Hub on FB. Dont hold your breath. On which side of the meter is the leak?

If on the meter, relay to swimming pool or other storage. :D

Or is it:

It seems to be before the tap on the meter. I can't see if the meter is counting as the water is gushing out like crazy.

If the leak is on "your" side of the meter... You going to have a problem. If its on their side... Divert to your garden - profit.

If the leak is on your side of the meter then you are paying. Get a plumber.

I applied at the municipality offices to move my water meter. They said it would take about a week. It took 16 weeks.

Am assuming its one of the following types. If you are at home... Don your swim trunks and some goggles and go lawn swimming. Open the cover to see which side the waters coming from. If its on the side heading to your wall. Call the plumber. You could also call your insurers and ask them to assist/escalate.

If its on the muni side... At least you wont have to wrangle an inflated water account.

Thanks boss. I went all tarzan tieties on the meter and got soaked but I can confirm that the meter is not counting. The water is coming out before the meter. This is my new custom fountain: https://twitter.com/Ridolfc/status/832523707822268416

Mine in tshwane took 2 weeks to get fixed last year. Hope you have better luck.
