Had my first incident on my bike in my year and a half of commuting.

Hit an underwater pothole at about 60km per hour, damn thing was more crater than pothole.

Buckled both my wheels but luckily I didn't come off. The GS handled it quite well :-)

I always knew that it would happen sooner or later but it wasn't quite as bad as I had thought.

Back in the car today and I really miss my bike. Traffic on witkoppen really isn't working for me :-(

I know I don't have to warn everyone but watch out for those muddy puddles on the roads.

Bike is at BMW at the moment, they reckon the only damage is the wheels at R550 each and whatever they decide to charge me for labour.

Not surprisingly the mag repair places are overworked at the moment and it will take a week or so to get the mags done.

Potholes are a menace. My mom fell in one of those famous New York potholes last week and broke her ankle.

you need to watch out for the potholes in a car too.

I blew 2 tyres in one pothole in bryanston last year, luckily I had tyre insurance with TWT (R80) per wheel. they replaced 2 wheels at a total cost of R450.

p.s. sorry i'm not sure what's a wheel and what's a tyre - but they were fixed.

How much had you spent on Tyre insurance before you had to claim on it?

How long had you had your types for before you damaged them?

Can you invoice the municipality?

You can actually claim back from the municipality, but it usually ends up in nothing. A good couple of years ago I also popped two tires on my car going through potholes and so I tried to claim back from the municipality. I filled out a form and sent it in and phoned them constantly, eventually after a year I gave up because it just was not going anywhere.

I have changed about 2-3 wheels a week at work of the people(woman) that has damaged their cars wheels on these roads here..

Hit a pothole riding my bike 6 years ago. Bike written off and I couldn't walk for two months.

I replaced all 4 tyres, insured them at the same time R320 and hit the pothole about 6 months later.

there's a clause linked to the amount of tread left so you can't claim free new tyres when they're bald.

I hit a pothole on my Hyosung GT650 a few years back. The rim completely broke open, amazingly I didn't even realize it had been damaged until the Tyre went flat. Quote for new rim was R3500, not that there were any in the country

I hit a pothole on malibongwe a while ago that burst my front left tyre (BMW Z4). Anyway replced it and started the motion of claiming from SANRAL. They eventually paid up a year after first lodging the claim and many paperwork later.

A wheel is the metal bit and the tyre is the rubber bit that actually touches the ground, unless you have a puncture then the rim/wheel will touch the ground too! ;)

Thx buddy, veilige myle vir jou :) Hoe gaan met die NCX? Jy mis seker nie die traffic nie? :D
