Damn Power Failures

Even one of those little 700w ones is a worthwhile investment imo - cost less than a spare laptop battery and we've used our more times than I can count in the last 6 months.

When I lived in SA, stores never even sold generators.

What a joke.

Oh well at least you have the nice view.

You find them everywhere these days - pnp, makro, builders etc.

Mine has a yellow tank on top but some are red, others green, others blue - all depends on who brand is on them. Thanks to the branding they're all a couple hundred rand ±r1000.

I run my 52cm tv (I'm a bit wary of using my plasma), PVR, ADSL, wireless network, a PC and a few laptops, and a half dozen lights (energy savers).

Thinking about getting a bigger one and wiring it into the board. Right now we end up having a half dozen extension cords lying around - not realy ideal with kids.

Doesn't this kind of post alarm people in SA. I guess it's the boiled frog syndrome. If you leave the frog in warm water and leave him there he will eventually be boiled to death if you slowly turn up the heat.

Again, what a pathetic joke. It never used to be like that. Bwana must be pining for the good ol' days in the USA when he got all the power he wanted from places like 3 mile island. :D

Actually, my father, a resident of Pa, puts way more hours each year on his generator than I do on mine.

Was reading in "The Witness" that during yesterdays power failure many people reported that they were unable to reach the department through the emergency numbers listed in the phone book. :o

Well it turns out that the emergency phone lines are linked to the electricity network hence when the power goes down so do the phone lines.

The perfect formulas for the perfect disasters, but like they say, someone must first die for someone else to fix the error, but we are lucky today our government will definitely fix all the error in the system

Ja, and the power keeps going out every day now...

they cut it at 07h35 every day where I stay, just the 11kv feed to our block as the surrounding houses have power. They fsck traffic up so bad with their sheer idioticness.

They are now costing me money as I cannot keep servers going nor can I work:mad:

Can't wait to move out of that **** area!

Brutal New South Africa guavament incompetence!

Too witness this steady decay of SA is truly something.

I suspect that it is just going to get worse.

Need some power?

Forward thinking Canadian electricity company in my province(Alberta) just announced that it is building a MASSIVE power station worth billions in preparation for the future.

Did you know that Canada has potentially more oil than Saudi Arabia?

What a future!

If only EKSDOM can get it's act together.

So much for fears that Enmax Corp. was going to snooze its way through the economic maelstrom that has engulfed our province and which promises to make the next decade or two among the most exciting in Alberta business history.

Thursday's announcement that the city-owned utility will build a multi-billion dollar, 1,200-megawatt power plant in southern Alberta -- the largest single burst of generation to be constructed since we transitioned into a deregulated electricity market on Jan.1, 2001

Ahhhh

*Dreams of Canada*

*sighs*

Is that what it has come to

:D

Well if I can't get into Aus, U.S, England or EU then I'll go to Canada ;)

:D

Yeah I'm sure other residents appreciate sitting in the dark :p :p
