Anyone else know of other places? I heard that Pretoria has cheaper lessons, but I'd like to keep to Joburg.

You've heard wrong about Pretoria being cheaper.
We got quoted R3600 for 10 x 30min lessons and another place quoted us R2500 for 5 x 30min lessons.

We might just do the Macarena and nothing else.

Try www.dancemore.co.za. Group lessons are R250 per person for 4 hours (4x1hour lessons per month). Private lessons are about R250/hr (I think). My wife and I started going to their Edenvale classes 2 months before we got married and we're still there 14 months later. They also have classes in the Sandton area. The school is non-competitive, the classes are geared towards preparing students to dance in a casual dinner dance setting. Dances we've covered thus far are: jive, tango, waltz, mambo, samba, foxtrott, quickstep, cha-cha, rumba and hustle.
