A Danish newspaper has reprinted a caricature satirising the Prophet Muhammad that sparked violent protests in the Muslim world two years ago.

The move by Jyllands-Posten comes a day after the arrests of three people suspected of planning to attack the cartoonist who drew the caricatures.

Two Tunisians and a Dane of Moroccan origin were held "to prevent a murder linked to terrorism", officials said.

Jyllands-Posten originally published the cartoons in September 2005.

Danish embassies were attacked around the world and dozens died in riots that followed.

'Defiant'

Jyllands-Posten reprinted the caricature both in its Wednesday printed edition and on its website, the paper's press manager Tage Clausen told the BBC News website.

The cartoon depicts Muhammad wearing a turban shaped like a bomb with a lit fuse.

Two other Danish newspapers are reportedly planning to reprint the cartoons as part of their coverage of the issue.

They say they want to show that they will not be intimidated by fanatics, the Associated Press news agency reports.

Pretty stupid but then again it shows up the extremists.
 
The Danes may have a goal here.
Let the extremists blow themselves to bits.

Back in the real world this is called "attempted murder".
 
OK, maybe I'm missing something, but I just checked out the Danish newspaper article. Although the article harps on about the "cartoon of Prophet Mohammed" the picture doesn't actually say who it is - unless it is the stuff written on the cannon ball, it could be any Muslim guy?
 
Freedom of press - if they want to live in the country then they had better be able to handle the freedom of its people to express their opinions and make fun of whoever they like. If they dont want to be exposed to it, then they should go back hom IMO.

I think it is the right kind of bravery for some reason. I believe people's beliefs should be respected, but also people's non-beliefs if you know what I mean.

This is going to be interesting to watch.

"Live and let live" in other words.

Look - to be fair - if someone is willing to blow themselves up over a cartoon, then that cartoon SHOULD be run. Let nature do what it does best.
