Oh my word!

I was hoping to pool our knowledge, so please post any tips, tricks, advice here.

Keep it spoiler free please, or if not, write the spoiler in white under an appropriate warning.

For one, I'd like to know how the heck to upgrade my equipment?? Level 17 Knight, 7 hours of gametime and no spells and I'm still wearing my starting armour and weilding my starting sword!!!
Awesome, misery inducing game though. Perfect for the masochist in all of us.

Once you are under the bridge with the red dragon, you will see his tail swaying on the right side. You can shoot it with a ranged weapon, the dragon will get irritated, flame the bridge above and return to his position. Repeat this a few times (I needed about 20 shots with a shortbow) and it will drop the Drake Sword (200 dmg). Amazing weapon!

If you're playing a melee character, you can get a shortbow from the merchant in Undead Burg for 1000 souls. Standard arrows will do, get as many as you can, cause you'll appreciate them later in the game...

Thanks for the advice, I'll give it a bash after work today. I need to visit that merchant and restock on firebombs anyway!

Bought a crossbow and bolts instead, thats not the way to do it, since you cant aim a crossbow like you aim a shortbow
