Former Proteas batsman Daryll Cullinan was sequestrated earlier this month for failing to pay a company for services rendered.

According to the SportLIVE website, the 46-year-old has failed to pay back Azrapix Investments CC R19 300.

In court papers filed in the Johannesburg High Court, Benjamin de Wet said Cullinan owes his company for services rendered in May and June this year.

De Wet said he has become aware of Cullinan's personal circumstances and that he is not in the financial position to make a reasonable and accepted repayment.

De Wet said it would be to the benefit of all creditors if Cullinan's assets are liquidated and made available for distribution to his creditors.

Cullinan's ex-wife, Virginia, claims he has twice taken her to court since their divorce five years ago to seek a reduction in his maintenance payment for their two sons.

Cullinan, widely regarded as one of the most talented cricketers of his generation, played 70 Tests and 138 ODIs for South Africa.

He averaged 44.21 in Tests and 32.99 in ODIs.

Cullinan averaged 12.75 against Australia, falling to Shane Warne on four occasions.

Wow, he had his wicket taken 4 times by the man, nothing special about that. I mean Steyn has gotten Hafeez 15 times.

Including 8 times in ODI's so I guess 12 times is a fair share.

Eish, obviously didn't plan his future whilst playing cricket.

If you remember the history of Warne vs Cullinan it is actually far more interesting that what you see on paper. Warne had Cullinan absolutely befuddled on every occasion, and it was always quite the battle. Also remember that he was injured in one or two tours and we hardly played as much as we do in this era.

I recall that battle between Warne and Cullinan being a talking point whenever the two faced off against each other. There was an incident that sparked it all iirc. Perhaps the appeal after the ball got lodged in his pad and he handed it over to the wickie or bowler? Who was that?

It wasn't lodged. It was quite likely heading for the stumps and he picked up the ball, mid-air and handed it back to the bowler. Can't remember against who that was. He was given out.

...

Daryll Cullinan and Shane Warne hadn't played each other in some time, and Cullinan was well known for being an easy target for Warne's spin bowling.

So, as Cullinan walks out to bat, Warne rubs his hands in glee and can't resist heckling him: "I've been waiting two years for another chance at you mate!"

Cullinan's riposte: "Looks like you spent it eating..."
