Hi.
For the last week or so, I get no display on the dashboard showing how much data is left. To find out, I have to waste data going to the Iburst page, or wait for a daily email.
I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the software and it didn't help, I haven't changed anything on my firewall so that can't be it.
Is anyone else having the same problem and can you suggest a solution?

Incidentally I set up for the email thing yesterday, and supposedly I used 166 Meg yesterday - which may not be a lot for most people on this forum but for me is ASTRONOMIC! I looked at the files I downloaded, I can see about 27 Megs there (14 of which were downloading the Iburst dash and drivers again BTW!!!!) so I'd like to know where the rest went?
Maybe I am super conscious of my data usage because I am now "direct" with Iburst whereas before I was through Vodacom.. is someone there pilfering???

Input welcomed..
Thanks

I'm having the same problem. And when I've gone over to iBurst's website to check there, Firefox gives me a "Secure Connection Failed - iburst.co.za uses an invalid security certificate." error and won't load the page. :/

Interesting. FF didn't give me that warning, I wonder why?
Incidentally, I have found out where some (A LOT???) of my bandwidth went - the Dashboard itself was using a lot this morning, I saw when checking under my firewall!!! As I watched, it was using a KB every few sec on upload ALONE before I terminated that connection!!!
Shaun Green, if you are reading this, I want my bandwidth back!!!

I'm using the old PCMCIA card modem. This problem only started occurring a few days ago.

Heh, I figured this out. When typing addresses, I never use the www. prefix anymore, since it's become optional in most browsers. Oddly enough, however, security certificates don't ignore it, so it turns up the discrepancy between http://iburst.co.za and http://www.iburst.co.za as a potentially fraudulent link.

Crazy.

These should both give readings.

Something has gone haywire.

Drop me an sms or a call in the morning so we can start fault finding.

Im getting similar experience pls let me know the outcome.

hi guys.

I have made Product and our I.S. team aware of this and should have a result soon.

Possibly in the mean time you could activate your morning bandwidth report on our website.

This would at least keep you up to date on your data usage.

Evening all

Just an update.

It is a fault on the dashboard server, which our systems engineers are currently looking into. We expect to have a resolution within a week. In the interim youy can login to our website and select bandwidth usage from the HOME\Shortcuts menu, login and view your usage. Alternatively you can also activate your daily bandwidth email from this section.

Apologies for this inconvenience.

Hi Shaun. I have activated the daily emails, however that is a once-a-day thing only PLUS it doesn't get me back the 160+ meg I lost, (reloading the dashboard to try to get it to work, plus the data the dash itself chewed when I allowed it on my firewall - as suggested by the Iburst helpdesk!!!)! That's like 15% of my month's data...!

Hi all.

Please note that the dashboard does use data to keep itself up to date.

This is not a huge amount however once the dashboard is repaired this usage will continue.

It is the cost of continually wanting your stats up to date. Very simelar to keeping your internet connection awake, DNS queries etc. There will be a cost involved.

This usage to keep the dashboard awake and updated cannot be refunded to clients.

should you find that a large amount of data is being used please check for spyware/addware/malware or virus infections. These tend to chew up clients data as well.

Remember those updates to software you are running. This month the 9 updates of Microsoft put quite a bite into peoples caps. This usage I cannot reinburse.

Should you not want the dashboard using data then only use the dial up networking icon in your network connections.

I have no problem with the dash using a SMALL amount of data, however I have already emailed you the screenshots which showed the data the dashboard SPECIFICALLY was using... 385KB over a period of 2 minutes = over 10 meg an hour! THAT'S NOT SMALL AMOUNTS!!!

In addition, I have a some very good and up-to-date antivirus/spyware products, so I feel I can safely say that is not my problem.

Bottom line - my firewall showed me that Dashboard was chewing data.

Tech has just phoned - he will be around this afternoon to check system.

Shaun Green - latest please?
The only three "problems" your tech found on my system were "found" by a program called Xoftspy - when I do an internet search on Xoftspy, the only comments which come up - which do not read like manufacturers adverts - are that this program "picks up" problems in order to get you to upgrade it to a paid version - which makes me not believe it at all.
No reputable antispyware program finds anything on my system.
So - still waiting for your fault on the "dashboard server" to be fixed, - (oh, and a return of the 160 odd meg which the dashboard chewed would be nice...)
Thanks

Hi all

I have requested an update regarding the dashboard not functioning any more.

Will let you know the response as soon as I have it.

Thank you

Just got the info.

Should be repaired by Monday the 13th if not sooner.

Apologies all.

I do want the Dashboard to come back with a permanent fix and no polyfiller patch in place which could make our lives miserable.

As soon as it is back I will let you know.
