Dashcam not picking up windows 10

I bought this a while back from Esquire,

It was labeled a Geeko



Plugged it into windows 10 machine and it doesnt recognise it, nothing happens.

Plugged into rear ports, tried 2 nothing.

Any ideas?

I need to get footage off it

Double check the USB cable? Try another one, or get a card reader ( if footage is on an SDC).

You could load up WinXP, 7 or another flavor OS in a VM. Might work?

Think this is the only route, have tried another cable.

You cant you need the player and for some reason it doesnt work if I take card out

Is it stored in a proprietary format? Try with VLC Media Player.
Or do you mean you can't get the storage? I mean use an SD Card reader to get the data off of it.

As far as i know you only plug in the memory card to get the footage.

My whole dashcam can be plugged in via cable to get to the footage, just acts as a flash drive, no extra driver needed.

Now Marine1 says it doesn't show in Windows 10, does it thus work in other Windows versions Marine1?

I have a Geeko DashCam. You have take the SD Card out of the dashcam and insert it into a sd card reader to copy the files off or to use the player on the SD card. The dashcam does not work while there is no SD card in it and ti does not present the SD card as a removable drive when plugged into a desktop/laptop, does not matter which OS.

Windows 10 has some funnies with SD cards and SD card readers. On one of my Win10 updates, the SD card reader stopped recognising cards. I eventually fixed it by tracking down drivers (and it was tricky figuring out which ones).

*some* dashcams only use the USB port as a way to power the unit and not to transfer data off of it..

if you don't come right please let me know the model number that on the unit as we last imported those from your attached picture in 2011 and don't have them on my system anymore - I can check with the factory that manufactured them once you give me the model number if they have Windows 10 drivers - Also I am surprised that you cannot just take out the SD Card and copy the data across to a PC as they use standard AVI or H264 compression depends on the time they were manufactured
