I have a question, and it might be a silly one. I haven't done any kind of investigation on this yet on my own, so just putting it out there.

Is it possible to have a different APN for data, than for your cellular connection.

For example, can I have a Vodacom SIM in my phone, but the APN is setup (with applicable details, username and password) for some other data provider?

I think I have seen something like this with Afrihost on MTN's network (not sure)

I need to have more data on my phone. I can't listen to normal radio anymore, and would rather have internet radio streaming in my car during my daily commute.

Any ideas?

You can have an Mtn contract using afrihost data because they have an agreement in place and your Mtn sim is then provisioned for the afrihost APN

You can also have Fnb data on a Vodacom contract , but again the 2 providers have an agreement in place. Without that agreement, it won't work.

The only other option is a dual sim phone, where I have a Cell C sim and a Vodacom sim. The Cell C is for data, and Vodacom is for voice. Please note that functionalities on different dual sim phones vary, so for some both sims cannot be active at the same time leading to missed calls for example

If you can't do that and it's for your car then invest in a MiFi and stick in any sim you want and just keep it in your car and take it out to charge every day or so unless you are fortunate enough to have a USB port in your car to charge it.

This sounds like a plan. And I do have a USB port

I want to get that small round one that vodacom sells. Any place I can source that without a contract?
