With the contract data bundles, you are required to use the data volume in a month - no carry over allowed and you cannot increase the bundle during the month.

What are the rules with prepaid - can you buy a 10 MB bundle use it up and then buy another bundle for 10 MB in the same month.

Also - does the calendar month rule also apply to prepaid - iow - if I do not use up the bundle I lose.

The problem is that it is difficult to know upfront how much of data is going to be used.

Any info will help me make a decision on going with my contract or getting prepaid bundles.

Prepaid bundles have exactly the same rules as postpaid. It is easier to manipulate prepaid though by getting more than one prepaid SIM and then loading extra bundles within the month on a new SIM. Prepaid SIMS sell for as little as R1,99.

thanks for that. tried asking the mtn shop but they did not know.
It makes sense to get a few prepaid sims. Problem is that they are not easily available in JHB. Found a shop in durban on the weekend and got one for R20. Down the street another shop had them for R3.

Thanks again.
