Hi

Yesterday while using the internet on my pc via phone modem (motorola v1050) i checked my balance on my phone (i'm on a top-up contract). On my pc i it showed +/- 4 mb received, +/- 1mb sent, total +/- 5mb. But my balance on my phone had already dropped by +/- R20.00:eek:

I disconnected from the internet and checked my balance again. It had gone up by +/- R 10.00.

Even today, after a total of +/- 2mb usage my balance is down by +/- R12.00. Mr/ Ms V3g, what exactly is happening? And has anyone else experienced this? What happens when my false balance hits zero?

This isn't the first report of strange up & down balances that then correct after a disconnect, at a guess I would say that Vodacom is implementing a fuzzy-logic [pre-paid] data usage guesstimate system that corrects after a disconnect...

v3g?

i heard they are taking a deposit everytime you connect, then refund it back to you or something... all very complicated and mysetrious.

Pretty much, will get the details on how it works.

Basically the higher your download rate, the more of your balance gets reserved, am still waiting for the exact formulas. When you disconnect, it's all recalculated and your balance updated.

why do you do it this way though???? sounds like alot can go wrong...

because it's pre-paid, they need to take from you first in order to determine whether you have enough money or not.
