My contract expires in August, so I'm looking around at options, and comparing afrihost to VC and so on.

But I ran into something odd with the VC prepaid data bundles. On the one hand, you get the 1Gb bundle, for R149, as a once off. But then you get a recurring 1Gb bundle, for R249! What's the difference? Why is the recurring one so much more expensive? They're both available on prepaid :wtf:

Same for 250Mb - R59 once off, or R99 recurring.

They chop and change their stuff so often so I'm speaking under correction here, but I think with the more expensive option in each case, you get Night Owl data as well, and it only expires at the end of the following month.

The cheaper option has no Night Owl data and expires 30 days from purchase.

Ah, that could be.

Their pricing makes no sense, but the packages are so convoluted you're never if it's blatant nonsense or if you've missed something :)

Looks straightforward to me.
I just migrated my 1+1gb data bundle to the 2+2gb one. They automatically cancelled the 1+1 and replaced it with the 2+2 bundle. Recurring does give you more data - twice as much, actually. I've been with them for 15 years and have never had any issues - other than one OOB shark that I contested and they corrected.

So if you're seldom up after midnight - I guess you you should manually add once a month to save costs?
The minute you go automatic (recurring), you get he Night Owl and with it, a price jump?

I actually think VC need to take these last 6 months and come out with far better pricing, contracts etc and less of these promos. Then have a huge 01 January 2015 launch with everything new.

rpm - remember we had a competition once for a new contract? Why don't we have something similar again?
