Greetings,
My girlfriend's 500MB/600MB contract recently expired and instead of going prepaid, she opted to sign another 24m contract, but this time without getting a dongle for a "reduced subscription", obviously because she already had one from the previous contract. At the moment she pays R199 p/m for this while if she would have gone prepaid she would have paid R189. Also because she signed for 24m, she cannot just cancel this because a cancellation fee would apply, which is quite steep apparently.
Now, if anyone can enlighten me here, why is this "reduced subscription" when you don't receive a modem on a contract more expensive than the prepaid option? Is it because of the "convenience" of having your data loaded for you every month instead of going through all the prepaid gymnastics? And secondly, how can they justify a buyout fee on this type of contract if you didn't receive anything from them, like a phone or modem as in a normal contract.
