hi guys im having a problem... i copied about 180 mp3s to a cheap verbatim disc and now i can only play up to about 70 of the mp3s on my car mp3 player or home mp3 player i tried recopying them but when it reaches 51% it freezes and aborts when i try playing or copy/paste them i get :

Data error (cyclic redundancy check) error

please do you know of any software that i can use to retrieve all 180 mp3s from the disc

many thanks

It could be a faulty disc or faulty cd-rom/writer the sad news is I don't know of a work around, did you use the disc to backup the mp3's? Why didn't you save the originals naughty boy? ;)

yeah im really stupid for not saving it but i didnt know that it was a cheapy disc but i tried other mp3 discs and they all work fine so im sure its the cheap disc thats giving me probs... ireally have some cool music on that disc thats why i wana recover them

Don't think theres anything you can do. Had that problem many times too. Why is Verbatim cheap? Its like the best. I saw Verimark had a product to remove a layer of a cd to remove scratches.

its a good product but this is different from other verbatims and also a lot of scratches

Try this... http://www.kvipu.com/CDCheck/

i think it was the most brilliant software to come out, few of my cd had CRC errors when copying them, tried this piece of software and it magically copied it successfully, without any loss of data, nothing.

Thnaks for that tip grim, i've downloaded it and will test it later.

I've tried others over the years, but nothing has really been any good.

Tried it but didn't work for me. Disk probably too badly scratched.

Well, works for some, might not work for others...but my dvd wasnt badly scratched...

I actually didn't think of this, but you could also try and make an image of the disc with alcohol 120%, I have recovered a few cd's this way, soz for not thinking of it ;) Just tick the option, ignore errors, or something like that :p

I tried a bunch of trial versions when my CD got Cracked. It didn't help cause my CD was damaged beyond repair but it might be able to help you:

Cd Roller
Diskinternals CD-DVD Recovery 2.2
BadCopy 3 Pro
ISO Buster 1.9.1 - My Personal Favorite
CD/DVD Data Recovery
Bad CD Repair Pro
In Disk Recovery
Stellar Phoenix CDROM

Let me know if one of these worked. Note that they are trial versions. I still have most of them

answer to all your problem is to go and get a car radio that uses a usb stick :)

they cheap like 600-700 at hi fi and they rock :)

4 gig usb stick can keep going to long long time
