Disc read error.

One of 3 things.

1) Disc itself is ******. Out of luck.
2) Disc is scratched. Try buff it.
3) DVD Drive is starting to give up the ghost. Time for upgrade.

Or it's a copy protected DVD that he's trying to copy with explorer. Information when wanting help normally helps.

If you are trying to copy a protected disc, like a movie DVD you will need something to get past it, like AnyDVD for example. If the disc is damaged you could try an application that will repeatedly try to read the damaged parts but don't expect much luck. If it's a disc with data (such as archives or exe's etc) then you're in trouble, but if it has video or audio files you could try something that will substitute the unreadable parts with 0's, this will cause some bad spots in the audio/video depending on how much it has to substitute but it should still be usable.

It's often worth trying the disc in another PC/ROM. If the disc is damaged you could try having it cleaned, some movie stores will do it for you with a machine.

I have had CRC's all over the place many times and I have found various ways to fix them.

My main two ways are:
1) A program called CDCheck (Search for it on google, first result) It works wonders
2) Make an image of the disk in question with a disk imaging program and them mount the image with the same or another program like Daemon Tools and then try extract your files/video/audio

Hope that helps
