Hi

I am looking at a blackberry leap with anytime topup 100 and 25 sms contract. As far as data is concerned I only use whatsapp and emails. (No facebook and maybe once or twice a month I will pop on the internet) Now the question is, seeing that I will not be getting any data on this deal and blackberry doesn't have BIS anymore, will the whatsapp switch to using my airtime if it has no data to use?
I have heard a lot of people say if they run out of data the whatsapp starts to use my airtime. I am only talking about whatsapp here not other apps. I have been using my Blackberry 9720 for 2 years now with 0mb of data and my whatsapp and emails keep going, not even using airtime?
I really don't want to buy extra data and I only want to pay the fixed amount a month, nothing more, as I will rarely ever run out of airtime if I choose the topup 100.

Separate questions:
Can you still covert airtime into data on MTN like you could 3 years ago, if so, how?
Can you buy data at most shops like pick n pay, ok foods?

Thanks

Yes, it will use data - you can probably manage with 100MB if you aren't a heavy mail or media user.

You can buy data at most shops. Not sure if you can convert airtime to data on MTN

@svartalfheim_0 Sounds to me like you were using BIS on your 9720. I had a Blackberry Bold, and thanks to BIS, I too would use however much data I wanted without a care in the world...and it was never deducted from my airtime because that was how BIS worked.
I'm sure you are aware that non of the new BlackBerry smartphones use BIS any more, so you must purchase data bundles whether you're using WhatsApp, emails or browsing the internet. If you don't buy bundles, you will be charged out of bundle rates - so yep, it switches to burning/deducting from your airtime. On a topup contract, I think you can go purchase more airtime from the shops (most sell it). Not sure if it can be converted to data though.
