Have you tried different cables?? It might be the cables that are connecting to you harddrive both from you PSU and the connector from Mobo to you harddrive. Another thing you have tried making it slave harddrive right?
 
did none of you guys see the burnt out diode on the picture of the pcb that was posted?

the drive is dead. kaput. need a new controller board.
