Hi Guys,

Desperately need help, one day, switched on the laptop and it gave me some error about System 32 file registery error or something along those line. I took the hard drive out and connected it to a IDE to USB cable, plugged it into the PC and its not reading it. You can hear the hard drive making a ticking noise though. My question , is there anyway to recover the files on the hard drive?

Its a Fujitsu Siemens Model MHV2120AT 120 Gig.

Thanks so much from one of the most desperate people around now!!!

In my honest opinion and past experience, it is close to impossible to resuscitate that clicking HDD. You followed the correct method to access the data. If the data is worth the expense, google companies who specialize in retrieving data. There is one in Pretoria that I used to get quotes from. In all the cases my clients skipped that option due to the high costs. You can also continue trying to connect it to your PC. Do it from a fresh start up and never try when the HDD "feels" hot. It will take a lot of patience. PM me if you would like further info or tips. My post has become long winded and may irritate other members.

It all depends how much your data is worth...
You can get the professionals like intratec.co.za to recover the data...
