I am connecting my Nokia 6680 via Bluebooth to my notebook with dialup networking. It shows the 3G (with arrows) as connected and yet the download speeds are show (about 15KB/s).

Is there any specific access point for connecting to 3G or what is the best settings?

These are the settings on my Phone:
1. mtnMmsProxy
Connection Name: mtnMmsProxy
Data Bearer: Packet Data
Access Point: myMTN
Username: mtnmms
Prompt Password: no
Password: **** (I think is is mtnmms)
Authentication: Normal
Home Page: http://mms.mtn.co.za/mms/wapenc

2. MTN-Streaming
Connection Name: MTN-Streaming
Data Bearer: Packet Data
Access Point: myMTN
Username: <none>
Prompt Password: no
Password: **** (I think is is <none>)
Authentication: Normal
Home Page: <none>

3. MTN-WAP-GPRS
Connection Name: MTN-WAP-GPRS
Data Bearer: Packet Data
Access Point: myMTN
Username: mtnwap
Prompt Password: no
Password: **** (I think is is mtnwap)
Authentication: Normal
Home Page: http://mms.mtn.co.za/wap

and via the Bluetooth/Nokia 6680 modem is it connect to *99#

HELP?

Hmmm

Sounds like you want internet connectivity on laptop through your phones modem ?

If the above is correct, then what you want is a dailup connection to your phone.

2 ways of achieving this.

1) Simple way. is to download the new Nokia PC suite v6.6 it'll instantly let you achieve this. Connect your phone with PC via bt, and then in menu select "Connect to the internet" .. whalaa !! And they fixed the sms sending via bt dongle, very cool !

2) Also simplish way. Create a new network connection. Control Panel -> Network connections -> Create new conenction. "Connect to the internet" -> "Set up my connection manually" -> "Connect using a dial-up modem" -> as ISP name enter <access point name>(*cellphone provider specific ~see end of post) -> as Phone number "*99#". No need for password / uname really.

Then ur done. For the access point name. (note it's case sensitive)
Vodacom = internet
MTN = myMTN
CellC (afaik) = internet

Also, you have to obviously choose the phone's modem as the default in the browser.

Then you should be ready to rumble.
PS: Looksliek it'll use your no3. MTN-WAP-GPRS connection.

Lemme know.
Corical.

My Bluetooth connection or adaptor or whatever limits the port speed to 115.2 kbps. I can't set it higher. Maybe yours is also limited?
115kbps rougly equates to 15 kByte/secs.

Try connecting with the USB cable. That connects at 460 kbps port speed. You should see full speed then.

By the way, if anybody has any knowledge on how to get higher BT speeds, I am keen to know. I've googled a bit, but no success.

@ Ajax

Open the box as if you want to connect via Bluetooth (in network connections in Start menu or your shortcut or wherever), then click Properties. Select your bluetooth modem in the list and click Configure. A box comes up where you are able to change the [MAX] speed. Don't know if it'll work as I am limited to GPRS on MTN at the mo, so can't confirm.
