I have problem transferring data from an 80 GB Samsung HDD (ATA)to a 120 GB Seagate (SATA) on Win XP. The problem is after a transfer of about 2 GB I see a blue screen and the PC reboots. Any help will be appreciated!

copy a little bit at a time

also run checkdisk on both disks

and defrag both maybe corrupt sector or something

Write down the error in the blue screen of death and search for it in google.
Chances are good that ms have got the specific problem solutions.
I'd bet that it's a bad SATA driver.

are you copying while in Windows? try copy it without booting windows, boot in console mode and copy

Well seeing that the Sata Drives is new My guess would be a bad sector on the ATA drive.

Does it Blue screen in the same place every time ? or is it random ?

i had something like this before as well ...
i then used leech get to copy the data and had no problems.

funny ... i know.

If you are doing anything less than a complete image copy, Filesync is an ok tool. Free with nags. If there are errors half way it allows you to rescan and select mismatched or missing files to copy over.
