Hi.

New to Andoid and was wondering what in your opinion is the best data tracker app. I want to know per application how much each data is being used both 3g and WiFi.

I did find PhoneUsage but ut has a lot of other stuff I dont really care for but it does have usage per app. Is there any other similar app you are using.

TIA.

i use traffic statistics on my android SGS2 works well (its an app) and its free

Data Manager was good, but its best features are in the paid version. You can get onavo and it will do all that DM pro does and more for free with no ads.

I use 3G watchdog - really great little app

Got it - thanks - its shows totals though not per app but ja - great app.

This also really looks great will definitely try it out - thank you.
what about USSD checker.

it works awesomely :)

Eish!! too much to choose from :D

thanks for all the suggestions - much appreciated.

Technically i said its worth taking Onavo as it does everything MD paid does and more completely free and completely add free.

Indeed, posted in haste before the coffee kicked in ;) Will try that one too.

I paid the few bucks and got the paid version. That gives you usage stats per app - I figured I'll easily save more in efficient data use than the price of the app.

AFAIK the only difference between paid and free is no ads. I can see traffic per app after I installed it.

All the great features of 3G Watchdog free ®, plus:

Shows usage by application (2.2 = Froyo +)
1-click backup and restore + auto-backup from version 1.3.0
Usage history by day, plan, week, month, with chart view, CSV export
5 custom widget styles look good on your background
Tracks multiple SIM cards automatically
Redesigned UI
Billing Rules (counts in blocks, ignores uploads)
Account/SIM with auto switch

This was an interesting thread. I've just installed 3G Watchdog free onto my sons cellphone. We're concerned about data usage when the phone is not being used (except for the occasional whatsapp message). Hopefully this will help us locate the cause.
Thanks guys ;)

See thats why I just link to the most noted apps as I know this will spark a "war" :)

Everybody likes there own little app for example I hate 3G watchdog simply because it did not pick up all the data my phones used, but from what I gathered it only happens on some devices.

What I can say why I prefer Onavo is simply because of the built in Firewall function that can limit some applications to WiFi only. So for the phones that lack firewalls (My SE Play thats still on stock) it helps curve my data use both by displaying data used and available on my plan as well as limiting applications I select to WiFi only networks.

As for my Data Manager it was great when I used it but simply put when you run something like that you want to limit your data use and not waste extra on adds.

So to some it up, check them all and settle for the one you like most.
