Hi Guys

I recently upgraded to the new software that allows Pre-Paid users to check their balance from the MTN Application. Now my question is, if they can do this for Pre-Paid, why can they not add an option in for Contracts? Or am I just missing something??

What do you guys find is the easiest way to check this? Currently I am using the tool on this forum.

Put the SIM into a mobile phone and call 16202 to create a PIN code for this number, you only need to do this step once.

Now you can use the USSD command *162*<pin>*1# to check your balances.

Thanx for the help. Unfortunately the MWeb/MTN data package SIM is apparently locked for anything other than purely accessing data. So putting it into a phone will not allow you to call or text. Entering 16202 in the first step of the procedure mentioned simply produces a 'Disconnect' notification and sound, can't get any further than that.

You would think something as simple as getting a balance update would be, well, simple?

Just checked after posting the original of this note:
* Can't get a balance off the MTN site as the data-only sim will not accept the confirmation SMS MTN wants to send with a code to proceed with registration....
* Even trying to get help from the Contact Us section of the MTN site doesn't work because it doesn't accept the MWeb/MTN data sim as a valid number (these 3G-marked sims start with 066, which seems to send the site into the screaming habdabs). Catch 22, niewaar?
* The MWeb site does in fact provide some details in the MyAccount section, but it is hopelessly out of date.

HOW THE HECK DO I MERELY CHECK MY BALANCE, DAMMIT MWEB/MTN??? Checking on prepaid was an absolute breeze. But this? It can't be rocket science, surely........

I've a Nashua Mobile 3G contract with MTN. MTN call centre refuses to give me the commands I need to access the data bundle balance. And Nashua Mobile has no such information on their website.

Like most of you I want to ensure that I stay within my monthly cap to avoid the horrendous out-of-bundle rates. How can I get the accurate commands for Nashua Mobile MTN 3G/HSDPA data bundle balances?

Balance Check...!!!!

Hi Guys.....I just joined the bundle service on contract an have decided to go to a pay as you go data bundle....because MTN does not give me a update after i have been on the net via contract ....they said it would only show after 2 to 24 hrs witch means you have now idea of what you spent and how much you have left.....poor service from them....but good new p a g offers that service ....nice on havnt even been on contract bundle for a month and switching already for stress free financial burden....tell me ur thoughts

What the hell is wrong with Nashua Mobile? If I knew this about MTN data bundles on contract I would never have signed up! It really pisses me off because checking your Vodacom 3G data is so easy!

If anyone has figured out how to get the data usage on Nashua Mobile, please do share that info because it seems like it's top secret/classified/for your eyes only info at the Nashua Mobile call centre. This is one of the big reasons I am moving to Vodacom Service Provider company now that my contract for my main cellphone business account is finally ended.

I have an MTN contract and I have nearly depleted my months worth of 2Gb data.
So I tried to make sure I'm not going over my limit and did *162*pin#

It tells me I have still got my whole bundle left! WTF???

MTN cannot answer your question , i've tried them. I have complaint asked begged no one can answer me or even bothered getting back to me.

It beats me that they can't tell me how much I used when I ask them. But 3 months down the line they can bully me cause I've been out of bundle.
Cudos to Vodacom that at least let the client knows that he is going out of bundle shortly.

MTN misinformed you. I remove my contract sim when I "think" I have used my bundle up and switch to my prepaid. Ten days later, believe it or not, it still updates and I am not even using it???

Ok its simple! Ive been a contract user for many years! The 16202 number takes ages to update. No really won't be surprized if it takes 2 weeks. Anyways so I won't rely on the 16202. Your better off counting your data usage! :)

I can tell you one thing. They will NOT bully me into paying 3 months billing in one month as they are trying to do with me. I have the time, resources and the proof that they overbilled us.
Actually, I can't wait for their lawyers letter.
People think that they cannot take on big companies if they are being ripped off. Wrong. The courts will decide. Been there, done that "AND WON"

My strategy is this:

1. Lous Nell from MTN has acknowledged that they have billing problem since April when they went over to the new billing system.
2. Over 7 000 complaints on HelloPeter on overbilling. Average is about 13 for all co's
3. Have daily billing printouts of my account balance for 3 months from MTN active showing a data rollover but charged OOB as well??
4. Their bill states that it is "Month to Month" and highlighted. And now 3 months backdated??
5. No warning given if you are close to your limit as other SP's do.
6. Most important is this. No DATA COUNTER that we can use to control our usage. This is to their benefit.
