Guys, what software is out there for windows 7 that i can use to track my data usage?

I am looking for something that will show usage per application kinda like Onavo would do on Android.

I found quite a few which monitor total data moved up and down, but nothing which shows what applications are using the data.

Hope you guys can help.

If you just want to monitor your local PC's data usage, then have a look at NetLimiter. For monitoring only, the free version should suffice.

Hehe. This is one of those questions that pop up about every week, maybe you should add it to your sig :D

Yup for my local machine - but down to which programm or application was using the data?

Yes. NetLimiter logs it per application.

The only problem that you may run into (which is VERY unlikely) is when you have a virus that is running as a service, to determine what DLL is the culprit.

Shot.

I installed it, but its not monitoring my mobile data usage - have look all the over place for setting etc to adjust - no luck.

Any help?

It does not handle dialup/VPN connections. You'll really have a hard time to get software that will monitor those per application!

a friend of mine got a 3G modem and also wants a program to monitor and blocks his data usage.

If you connect the 3G modem to a router and connect to the router via LAN/WiFi, then you can monitor the traffic quite easily!
