data usage too high

hi there
i am a new adsl user in the first 4 days my usage is 750 mb this is with normal browsing and a few songs downloaded i feel this is extremely high.at this rate my 3gb cap will be used up in half a month.can someone please help me bring this usage down

Because it's faster than normal dialup / ISDN, you get more done in lesser time, i.e. can open more web pages (which has more flash / images / videos/ etc), and you perform more windows / AV / software application updates more often.

Download & install NetLimiter to see which applications use what, and try and fix the problem

Antivirus, windows updates, other things that run in background.
My antivirus sometimes is downloading 70mb updates (luckily i am on uncapped)
Also remember, if u download a torrent with a size 10mb, add to that another couple of mbs cos of upload and the fact that the torrent has to look for peers and seeds costs.
get a monitor otherwise.
