I spend about 100MB a month using 3G, do my downloads at my place using WiFi.

There are tons of these blackberry to android threads.

Bottom line is you're going to have to pay for broadband on an android. On the other hand you never had broadband on a blackberry.

I think a safe bet is 300. If you don't have wifi at home/work then double that.

The nice thing is... you can turn off your mobile data, and still make calls and send sms's... not like my old black berry.

I use WiFi at home, GFs place and work . So I am pretty much always covered with data.

However when I need my data and I am not at above mentioned locations, I quickly enable my mobile data and do what I must and turn it off.

It sounds like a schlep but once you get into it... your fingers know the path and you will start doing without even trying :D

300mb of data? WTF :wtf:

at the end of the day, it depends what you are going to do with your phone... download loads of ****, or just get an email now and then etc, etc.

If you dont have wifi, you going to pay a fair whack for data. Day to day usage is not too much of an issue. I rarely exceed 100Mb a month (casual web browsing on opera mini, push e-mail, fb, twitter, whatsapp)

Downloading apps - and updating your apps to the latest versions will use a lot.

For off wifi usage i go through about 50mb a month and i never turn my 3G off, using the new market 3.1 you can set it to only check for and update when connected to wifi, not sure if you could do that in v2.

So only apps you allow to access background data will work when your on 3g, for me the only things allowed background data are whatsapp, gmail, gtalk, tapatalk and the weather which only checks every 2 hours.

This is the best part of the new market!!!

Will be getting wireless shortly i hope. Can you update apps etc using wired connection ?, work has wireless but they filter out all mac's except trusted ones. And wont add any.

I use 6-10megs a day when not near my WiFi networks, tbh you can do with buying a 500meg bundle for 2 months, pricing isn't terrible

Short answer: NO
Long answer: NO

Correction: Doable,but not easy
The market is push, but there are ways to get the APK files and copy them to the phone, then run something like Appinstaller to install them, but this is tedious

Meh i could just host a network wireless for nw from laptop and share internet.

I use 400mb+... but I download loads of crap :) On days when I only email and check weather I use about 10mb

Suppose your rite, but there is no actual way to get the official apk directly from the market, you will have to use pirate sources which has the added risk of a potential virus.
The guys own a blackberry so without pointing out all the risk the best answer would still remain no.

The market itself carries a risk with potential viruses, but that risk would be magnified by using a pirate source.

Wont work either, androids don't support adhoc networks, there is a tool that claims to make it work, but the last time i tested it it still did not. I forget its name now.
It will only connect to a router or a hotspot.
