Datapro Business 1 Mb Connection

A friend of mine uses the 512k business solution. Thing sorta dies around the 20th. Its like they ran out of cap or something.

Or maybe they doing what everyone else is doing now, reselling IS accounts.

We're also using the 512k connection. It really sucks and we're on the verge of cancelling. We regular have periods of 33% packet loss even to Datapro's own servers and international speed is as good as dialup. Their support really sucks as well. Since they essentially just resell IS ADSL, they blame everything on IS, that's if you can get them to believe you when you claim you have a problem, and they always start by telling you to reboot the router when you know damn well there is nothing wrong with the router. Also, lots of unexplained outages, on international as well as total. I wouldn't recommend Datapro at all. The only redeeming factor on the package is the static IP's on the uncapped static business package, but apparently that is the cause of a lot of the problems as this relies on Telkom's ipconnect service which seems to malfunction regularly.

a friend of mine is using another provider for their ADSL feed. You get a /29 IP block, but you can ask for more. They have a /28 block. Speeds are good and uptime is about 80%. They are on a 512k package as well. Costs them R1800 per month (with the /28 block). The normal /29 block is R1250/m I think.

What sort of static IPs do you get with the uncapped package with static IPs

196....or 165....

Played around yesterday on my mates connection. Its about the same in comparison with IS (vs my IS account). Speeds averaged at 48KB/s, and telkomsa.net report line speed was at 489.56kbits. Ping times are good as well. stable 60-80 ping, peaking to 300. Don't know any other tests one could run.

Thanks for the reply - so essentially i should skip Datapro and deal direct with IS....

datapro sucks in my honest opinion!

It is a case of a company being to big to be able to deal with all its subscribers.

any advice on a connection for a small WISP? I was going to use Datapro, but now...
