Got to agree with EtienneK there... Got myself the collecters edition from BT Games and had no hassles at all. The patch was quite a download though (closer to 115mb for me).

I've played both DOW1 and now DOW2. Must say I find the direction they took rather refreshing. No unlimited units, no turtling and spamming your strongest units, just good ol tactics.

I do enjoy classic base building etc, just found this to place more emphasis on action rather than base building.

Thats my 2c worth.

I bought the game on Saturday morning. Installation went fine, but the update took over 7 hrs to install. Steam would stop downloading the update for no apparent reason.

I loved the original. The resource gathering method was so refreshing. I hate the C&C/WC3 method with a passion. Maybe thats because my reflexes are **** and I hate using hotkeys - but DOW1 was the best RTS I have ever played.

But please, if anyone could comment on exactly how they changed the game?

Well basically the single player is more of a RPG than RTS. You select up to 4 squads of varying units (only space marines are playable) which you play with through the stage. You still capture points throughout the stage, but their significance is to replenish 'fallen brothers' from the squads you started with. Typically, you face a boss at the end of each level, which is like a supercharged hero from the other factions...
I am a loot ho, so I really enjoy picking up all the randomly dropped wargear and kitting my guys out for the next mission :)

The multiplayer is more Role Playing Strategy.... not an rpg or rts per se. Basically, still no base building again (just your const yard equivalent and one turret), but you can now build units, up to your unit cap....
