Day 8 and I'm almost there :(

I've got 15mb remaining on my 1GB cap. It's the first month of using the service and I must admit I'm very happy with it, I'll probably look at getting the 3G package in the following month but in the interim, I'm going to run the cap out to see how painful being throttled is. With any luck it will allow me to browse, to the iburst site atleast.

How many of you other subscribers run into throttled mode? How bad is it?

My 9 GB evaporated by day 3. Last month I bought an extra 9Gb. This month I've decided to try see how long I can last while capped.

The cap is extremely painfull - but I still manage to download 800MB in a day (download tv programs from SCI-FI Channel in USA)
 
I did for about an hour last month :P

I still streamed video at 100kB/s but it wasn't consistent.

Browsing was fast but also not consistent, pages timed out now and again, but from what I read on this forum is that it differs from person to person.

Yeah thankfully I haven't gotten stuck into downloading full length movies/series ... yet :D
 
Capped service is not too bad- I consistently get 64k, 24 hours a day. It's a good time to do torrents, which are shaped to 64k in the 1 gig account anyway. In winter (no risk of thunderstorms) I've managed 9 or 10 gigs in a month on a 1 gig account. Browsing can get a little slow at times but is infinitely better than my noisy old phone line with 28.8 dialup was.
 
I have lived on the capped account for most of a month a few times, and it is generally okay. It works well for 64kb, but that is all it is.

So if you have more than one PC on a network it can get bad, and rather don't try too much multi-tasking. However, for general use it is fine. Of course its just great not to have to have to worry about a cap limit at all, so every night you can just leave it downloading.
 
Generally I have no problems with the cap, although as EHV mentioned, you can't multi-task. However, it's the best time to pick up that new ISO, etc. and there's always the DC hub...
 
hmmm UT2k4 being capped and playing on the SA sites yeilds a 150ping :(

but web is very browsable IF you are not trying to download anything
 
Usually latency wont change at all if you are capped. Speeds have no impact on ping, its just that you obviously shouldn't be downloading anything while you try to play.
