At my new home we have an ET garage opener

Every time it rains, I click the remote to open, it opens a quarter way then trips the DB

Anyone have an idea

i thought you meant something completely different :)

Since it is a 24 volt motor, there is a large transformer within which is supplied by the mains. It appears that the motor might be moving when it is opening the door and possibly stretching the mains-carrying cable which is damaged and touching one of the steel struts that supports the motor from the roof of the garage.

Unplug the motor mains lead and check that the mains cable is loose, not chafing anywhere and has not become trapped in the struts or in the body of the motor.

If this looks ok, open the lid underneath the motor and check the blue, brown and yellow/green cables from the mains lead are firmly tightened into the connector block in front of the motor control board

It is also possible that the transformer has been tightened down too much and a cable of the windings has become trapped

Maybe water is running down one of the cables into the motor, since the top plate of the motor is not sealed
