This is sure to cause some tempers :)

Does the faster memory really make much of a difference and is it worth almost twice the price?

I've looked around for some reviews/comparisons but don't seem to find any with definitive proof.

Overclocking the 1600? Sounds danderous :)

I've read a few forums where peeps have OC the 1333 to 1600. Don't think I'll be doing that though.

The 1333 is a lot cheaper so maybe its better just to get more of it.

Also be carefull of voltage needed to run the various speeds. Try stick to standard voltages where possible (1.5V) for DDR3. For the Core i7 Intel states that the processor life will be shortened by running the memory above 1.65 volts as the memory controller is on the processor link

I'm also thinking that spending the extra is a bit of a waste.

Interesting link - thanks. Didn't know there were different voltages for memory :)

I guess at the end of the day it boils down to how much tin you can waste or how you spend it.

Personally I would get stuck into the bang for buck scenario i.e. what is the cost to performance ratio......

Well technically DDR3 should run @ 1.5V, however, in the pursuit of higher speeds a bit of voltage tweaking is used. All you need check is that the rated speed is @ 1.5V (or 1.65 max).

Also check on the memory timing.
