DDR3 2000/ (O.C)

Hey peeps,

I have a query for the hardware specialists. Spoken to some IT guys at the shops and they say that it should be fine, but I thought I'd ask you...

I have recenly bought a new Asus M4A89GTD Pro(amd) and would like to put DDR3 2000 ram in it, it supports DDR3 2000(O.C) please help by explaining what that means? I have heard so many different explanations and read a few on some other forums... Now I'm just confused. :(

Will it work and will it make any difference to gaming and general pc usage than say DDR3 1333?

Why do you want such high speed RAM? Only a few select programs will benefit from it, and games will receive a big fat 0% performance increase from it.
Anyway, it means that you will need to overclock the FSB or base clock in order to get the correct speeds on your RAM. But I havent done it in ages so thats about as usefull as I'll be
 
Thanks :). I'm just buying for the future I suppose. Don't plan on spending more money on the pc for the next 2 years or so... I'll try figure out how to OC the base clock then... This mobo is quite user friendly when it comes to OC'ing though :)
 
Well DDR3 2133 is significantly faster than DDR3 1333. It's the data rate that changes.

Essentially it will make things faster but at what cost?

No need, really. Save your simoleons and get DDR1600. Its just about the same price as 1333, but waaaaay cheaper than 2000.

You need to decide.

It does not make 99% of things faster. Your HDD is the slowest part in all this. And once the info is in RAM most programs run into bottlenecks in the CPU or GPU waaaaay before the RAM has anything to do with it.
