Hi all,

Just want to confirm a few things - but guess I already know the answer....

Authorised the wife's (inherited) iPad1 with my laptop and my iTunes account/Apple ID. This was a few days before the ZA store opened itself up a bit.

I then registered a ZA Apple ID for her on her laptop, primarily to get a sense of what would be available.

We've now reached the point where for her to start using the iPad optimally for work, she needs to start downloading certain work-related software etc., in order to access work databases online... Long story short - it's beginning to make more sense that all of this is done via her laptop - which means that the iPad should start synching with hers, rather than with mine.

Did a quick snoop around about de-authorizing devices - and noticed the following under the Apple support page:

"Once a device or computer is associated with your Apple ID, you cannot associate that device or computer with another Apple ID for 90 days" and
"You will also be able to track how many days are remaining before your associated devices or computers can be associated to a different Apple ID" and finally
"Removing a device from your Apple ID does not override the 90 day timer. The timer must complete 90 days from the day the device was associated before it can be associated to another Apple ID"

So that's it then? Since rocket scientist over here authorized my wife's iPad with my Apple ID, de-authorising it from mine now, will mean I will only be able to set-up the iPad with her account on her laptop after 90 days?? That kind of sucks in all sorts of ways...

[Apologies - should have placed this in the iPad/iPhone sub-thread! Mods, could you kindly move it?]

As far as I know this can be done. I have 2 Apple IDs running on my iPad 3 (for the SA and US stores). You will need to go to Settings and deactivate the current Apple ID, then Link your wife's ID as the new one. I'm not sure about the 90 days policy, but it's worth a try.

Thanks... ja - the more I think about it, the more I reckon it must be possible, despite the 90 days timer. Surely if I were to sell an iPad, and the buyer then set up a new account immediately - only to sell it again to another, who then set up a new account as well - then a 90-day time period would wreck havoc, and it would be known to all and sundry...

I reckon the 90-day timer must surely apply to other situations (e.g.) where they are trying to prevent one PC running several Apple ID's, and synching with different devices?
