De-registering and Emaill address

I need some help here.... a buddy of mine had a BB and his gmail email account setup on the phone. He has since upgraded to a new BB and now needs the above mentioned gmail to come to his new fone.

However, it does not seems to work. I am suspecting that we either need to de-register the device or the email address but i am not sure.

Could some one please shed some light on on how to go about doing this.

Registered the device, but the mail still does not come through. I'm thinking it might be cos it associated with another device. I could be wrong though.

Have you resent your service books since the sim went into the new phone?

Thanks for the response bwana. Seems like it has somehting to do with the BIS that was down over the weekend. Re registered on the network and all is fine now.
