Dead IPs'

well at the end of the day what's annoying me is customers want to cancel because of this 'glitch' hence my reason to try and troubleshoot it as well.
Well at least now you know that it is not only affecting one user, hopefully you will take it up with iBurst or maybe get Shaun Green to suppy us some answers to the problem.

I just had IP 196.46.70.168 "die" on me and I also noticed that my IP has been changed +_20 times today without me doing anything to change it myself.

This auto changing of IPs is what happened a few months ago after wbs were messing around with the tower.

Can you guys provide me with IP's at the time this happened?
In the last 3 hours I had 196.46.66.95 and 196.46.67.187 "die" on me and when I changed IP I got a "dead" IP 196.46.70.91:eek:

Changed IP again and now it seems to be working.

Since my last post another IP "died" on me 196.46.64.190 and when I changed IP the following two were "dead" 196.46.70.180 and 196.46.64.174

Here's another that died about 10min ago 196.46.64.184 and I think thats enough for you to go on with assuming you are still reading these posts as I have not seen any posts from you lately.:p

196.2.116.179 just died on me
I think we're wasting our time posting the "dead" IPs even though BroadbandICTHoldings asked for us to do so as it seems he has gone away due to no posts from him lately.

Anyway I had 6 die so far today and since they are all different IPs and not only in CT it seems the whole system needs to be attended to.

After wbs worked on the tower at the beginning of the week all IPs have been ok for me, until right now I had 6 "dead" IPs in a row.
Seems whatever they fixed is broken again.:(

I see it more and more often now.... I get an IP address, but no gateway OR DNS servers are assigned.... can disconenct/reconnect up to 4 times before the correct parameters are assigned.

Since wbs don't give us answers does anyone else have any ideas as to why this is happening?

This is stuff which can scare off potential customers who want to move over to iBurst.

Luckily there aren't any dial-up or reconnection charges, so one can simply reconnect should one gets an dead IP, but this problem should be attended to ASAP since it can also cause customers to switch providers.

a really interesting thread this is. Will have to try and remember to keep a closer eye on the ip addies from now on. Though I still have issues with TradePages on the fact that for some inexplicable reason we are unable to change our password on a regular basis if at all?

Is there the Dead IP issue again...coz recently starting today i have had afew dead ip's ....
anyone having the same issue?

This is pretty funny.. you have to check your IP, and people start recognising them... scary stuff. Maby you shouldnt look at your PC so much JTech :P

If I ever recognised a IP id probably start looking into suicide. But then again you probably noticed it because it was so crappy.

Of course I notice when an IP is bad... I can't help it I just remember it. Some of the IPs on iBurst are so totally fcuked it's not even a joke, but then again, same old, same old from when I used to be on dialup with Datapro and Storm internet and those okes had dead lines which hung my modem's firmware.

Yes some of the IPs are crappy slow and some die still, this morning I was downloading from RapidShare and it was crawling at capped speeds, I had to changed IP 3 times before I managed to get to +_900kbps which is acceptable.

Still I don't see any answers from Shaun Green or any other person at wbs about as to why this is happening or at least they could tell us they have no clue as to why it's happening.

Hey Everybody.
More enthralling conversations with support this week.

Rang support about my dead IP.
Apparently its not a dead IP. Its your computer. Magic!

First solution as recommended by Ibust Support:
Ibust > "REBOOT"
Ibust > "UPDATE IE....
Me > "I use firefox, and my pc is up to date"
IBUST > "whats firefox?"
IBUST > "No no no its your firewall. Norton causes it! Change all your settings"
Me >"Erm No I use Mcafee..."
IBUST > "...ERM"
Me > "Have any other people reported this problem?
IBUST > "No first time I've heard of it"
Me > "Alrighty then...Thanks and Goodbye!"

Don't get me wrong support from ibust is normally ok. But today it's getting weaker than the Rand.

The problem is that those guys arent infomred about these tyes of problems there. None of them know what a dead IP or Cap of Death is. Plus they are used to dealing with peopel just a bit stupiud er than them, the type who use IE and install the bundled Norton that came with their PC and still pay for it.

Maby if the user base werent so stupid the support would be better.
