Helicopter Crash in Afghanistan Reportedly Kills Members of SEAL Team 6.

KABUL, Afghanistan -- A military helicopter was shot down in eastern Afghanistan, killing 31 U.S. special operation troops, most of them from the elite Navy SEALs unit that killed Al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden, along with seven Afghan commandos. It was the deadliest single incident for American forces in the decade-long war.

Very tragic news... 31 in one go is a big victory for Al-Qaeda.

good thing the chopper didnt crash into some afghan civilians on its way down, too many civilians being murdered as it is

Sheesh, you are a real piece of work aren't you?
I would call you a scumbag, and an idiot, but I don't feel like getting any infractions tonight.
So let's just leave it at that.

Going to go with Garyvdh on this one.

If you have a gripe take it up with those giving the orders - these are just soldiers doing their job.

No need to highlight the link, I'm well aware of the Nuremburg Defense.

Which of course was used when soldiers were accused of war crimes - were those on board the chopper guilty of war crimes ?

whether or not they have committed "war crimes" is irrelevant to this discussion, the reality of the situation is that the Americans are a volunteer army of foreign invaders occupying that country, of course people are going to shoot at them, its hardly a surprise.

Scumbag? Idiot? why thank you for getting so emotional on my account :)

anyway, im not sure why you are mad? because i have shown concern for the plight of innocent afghan civilians who have suffered immensely under the foreign occupation?

Well let's just all get pedantic then - my war crimes comment was in response to the Nuremburg Defense so it is relevant.

As for the innocent afghan citizens I agree - yet I don't recall you shedding tears for the innocents killed by the Taliban, Hamas or any other looney group.

It seems you are only sympathetic towards innocents who are not pro-west ?

this is quite an assumption on your part, im against civilian suffering irrespective of who inflicts the suffering, im certainly no supporter of the taliban but that does not mean i support western imperialist occupation either.

I don't want to go around dreaming up conspiracy theories, but isn't this a little TOO convenient?

+1

He's most likely one of those with the dead Muslim terrorist leaders (bin liner) poster on his bedroom wall.

If you asked him to confirm his religious affiliation, you'll understand.

foreign occupation = fighting Muslim terrorists.

Keep on gloating.

Edit: The article is actually misleading.

First:
most of them belonging to the same elite unit as the Navy SEALs who killed Al Qaeda leader Usama bin Laden

Then:
None of those killed in the crash is believed to have been part of the SEALs mission that killed bin Laden, but they were from the same unit as the bin Laden team.

what a contrast of emotions for those SEALS. Celebrating the successful undertaking of possibly the important operation in the history of their country to mourning the loss of so many members of there unit in one incident.

I wonder how many personal there are in SEAL team 6 in total?

So who do you support then
