dead mobo - 2 questions - customer

if at all possible - how can i recover :

-outlook express Account infromation - username/passwords (normally exported as .iaf but mobo dead - so no .iaf
-retrieve dialup account details - #/username/password

customer as usual didn't have backups

Put the hdd in another machine, that will solve outlook hassle but as for dialup no idea. Get the customer to contact his service provider.

Mobo has nothing to do with the password info stored on the HDD...unless he is running RAID.

Both are stored in the registry with a little XOR encryption afaik....but depends on the OS.

turns out the hdd has got bad sectors - and i can't even get it to post on exactly the same mainboard in another pc (safemode) - so this is a case of extracting info manually .

Eish, thats going to be a mission. First try getting the passwords elsewhere (ISP) etc.
