An armed robbery in Sardinia Bay in Port Elizabeth had a deadly sequel in Butterworth on Wednesday.

One of two men allegedly involved it the house-breaking was killed after allegedly pointing a gun at police and attempting to shoot at them. A second suspect was arrested and police have not ruled out the possibility of more arrests.

Provincial police spokesperson, Brigadier Marinda Mills, said three suspects, who confronted several people in the Sardinia Bay house on Sunday, opened a safe and fled with firearms and electronic equipment.

"The tracing team followed several leads which led them to the whereabouts of the suspects in Butterworth. Two handguns were recovered as well as some of the electronic equipment taken during the robbery in Port Elizabeth. The arrested suspect will appear in court soon on charges of armed robbery," she said.

"The possibility of more arrests is not ruled out," Mills added.

The Provincial Commissioner of Police, Lt Gen Binta said:" The SAPS will continue to do our utmost to bring the perpetrators of crime to book. This is a good example of our commitment and ability to remove criminal elements from society."

Mills said the Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID) was informed and will investigate the shooting incident.

pointing a gun at police and attempting to shoot at them

Either balls of titanium, or incredibly retarded. Either way, good riddens.

Awesome stuff! Now if only the other had pointed a gun at them too.
These cops are probably going to be investigated for doing a good job.

The cats growled eh :D :D :D

My cat actually warned us about a burglar the other day as well.

He came running in to the bedroom with his tail between his legs. That means something is up, he does not like strangers.
There was a guy creeping though our garden. Would probably have missed him if not for the cat.

Hope you spoke to the guy, with a voice of lead
